BoneTRAP (TRACP 5b) Assay

Description

High amount of tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRACP) is expressed by boneresorbing osteoclasts and activated macrophages1. Two forms of TRACP circulate in human blood, known as TRACP 5a and TRACP 5b2. TRACP 5b is derived from osteoclasts and TRACP 5a from macrophages3.

Features

·         Measures TRACP 5b activity that is released specifi cally from osteoclasts.

·         No interference with TRACP 5a or other phosphatases.

·         Hemolysis has no effect on results.

·         No diurnal variation.

·         Not affected by functional disorders of kidney and liver.

·         No dietary influences.
